The Federal Reserve on Tuesday announced that there was going to be the establishment of a temporary repurchase agreement facility for both foreign and international monetary authorities (FIMA Repo Facility) to help in supporting the functioning of financial markets in a positive way, including the U.S. Treasury market, and thus maintain the supply of credit to U.S. households and businesses. This announcement boosted the value of the USD and that is why the USD/CAD pair has been going up today since this event is still in play.
