Sony Corp ADR (SNE)today is trading at $64.37, gaining +$0.42 or by +0.66%.
On Friday Sony Corp (T:6758) will start manufacturing and even donating medical face shields to the hospitals in Japan due to the worries about the availability of protective equipment for healthcare workers. It will be joining the growing list of global companies that are helping hospitals by providing face shields such as Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM), which will be protecting frontline workers from the virus-containing droplets released by coughing, sneezing or any other forms of close contact.
With Japan reporting more than 16,000 coronavirus cases and 603 deaths from the flu-like respiratory illness, Sony(NYSE:SNE) has said it will also help mass produce ventilators designed and developed by medical goods maker ACOMA Medical Industry Co. Production will begin by July, with plans to manufacture 500 units by the end of September.
The Japanese technology and entertainment company also said it has begun producing face shields repurposed from eye shields normally used by surgeons to view images on Sony's 3D medical monitors.
