The Dow gained on Tuesday along with all the other major indices. The Index gained 2.39% and closed at 23,949.76 (+558.99). This was following the news that most states are planning to reopen their economies.
However, some of the companies on the Dow reported their quarterly results and most of them reported negative results with large profit declines. JP Morgan, Johnson, and Johnson, and Wells Fargo were some of these companies. JP Morgan, the largest bank in the US had a net income of $2.9 billion compared to $9.2 from the previous year. JP Morgan was among the worst performers in the Dow along with Boeing and American Express Company.
The best performers were Apple Inc, Raytheon Technologies and Walgreen Boots alliance.
