196 Million Lira Fine to Google from the Competition Board! Google was given a 196 million lira fine from the Competition Board. The Board imposed an administrative fine of 196 million 708 thousand 54.78 lira on Google. An investigation was opened against Google Reklamcılık ve Pazarlama Ltd Şti, Google International LLC, Google LLC, Google Ireland Limited and Alphabet Inc. on the grounds that it "abused its dominant position in the general search market". Today, the investigation has been completed and a decision has been made. In this context, with the decision of the Competition Board dated November 12, 2020, Google's top search results are violated with an indeterminate and intense advertising quality, by placing text ads intensely and making it difficult to find organic results in the content services market, board concluded that Google violated the Law on the Protection of Competition. Upon this, the Competition Board ruled that an administrative penalty of 196 million 708 thousand 54.78 Turkish lira be imposed on Google.   What Happened? At the beginning of November, a verbal advocacy meeting was held as part of the investigation against Google for "abusing its dominant position in the general search market". The meeting, by the Chairman of the Competition Board, Birol Küle, was held electronically. At the meeting, Küle announced that an investigation was started against Google Reklamcılık ve Pazarlama Ltd Şti, Google International LLC, Google LLC, Google Ireland Limited and Alphabet Inc., on the grounds that it "abused its dominant position in the general search market".
