3 CBRT Officials Were Dismissed
3 CBRT (Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey) officials were dismissed. After Erdoğan and Kavcıoğlu's meeting, 3 members were dismissed.
After the closed-door meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and
CBRT Governor Şahap Kavcıoğlu, according to the appointment decision published in the Official Gazette,
CBRT Vice President Prof. Dr. Semih Tümen, CBRT Vice President Dr. Uğur Namık Küçük and Monetary Policy Committee Member Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yavaş was dismissed.
Taha Çakmak, the Deputy Chairman of the BDDK, was appointed as Central Bank VP. The Monetary Policy Membership was given to Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna. With the final decision, a vice-presidential seat remained vacant. This appointment is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
Who is Taha Cakmak?
Born in Elazığ in 1981, Çakmak graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration in English.
He worked as an Auditor at Deloitte Touche & Tohmatsu in 2004, and as an Assistant Inspector at the Social Insurance Institution in 2005. Between 2005-2019, Ziraat Bankası A.Ş. He worked as Head of Human Resources Department and Ankara Public Institutional Branch Manager.
In 2019, he worked as the Head of Department at the Privatization Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Çakmak later served as the Vice President at the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency.
Who is Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna?
Appointed as the Central Bank Monetary Policy Member, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Tuna, graduated from Ankara İ.T.İ.A. Financial Sciences and Accounting, Department of Economics and Finance.
Tuna, who started his academic life as an assistant at Istanbul University in 1982, completed his doctorate in 1988. Tuna became an associate professor in the department of economic policy in 1991 and a professor in 1997.
Appointed as a board member of BDDK and SDIF in 2003, Tuna has held different positions at Istanbul Commerce University since 2010.
