300 Million Dose Vaccination Agreement from the EU!
The European Commission (EU) signed a 300 million dose vaccine agreement with the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi.
Many countries are working hard to develop a vaccine against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, which affects the whole world. US officials, who made a statement last month, announced that they have signed an agreement with Sanofi for a possible Covid-19 vaccine.
A new statement came from the EU, which reacted to this situation and said that everyone should have access to the vaccine equally.
EU officials have announced that they have signed a 300 million-dose supply agreement that prioritizes the purchase of the vaccine that Sanofi will develop by EU countries.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, who announced the agreement on her esocial media account, said: "Today, we have taken an important step with Sanofi to ensure that Europeans have access to a future coronavirus vaccine."
“Europe invests in the vaccine portfolio”
Stating that the EU has made serious investments for vaccine studies in its statement, Leyen said: "Although we do not know which vaccine will work today, Europe is investing in a diversified promising vaccine portfolio based on various technologies."
Thanks to this agreement, the EU has gained priority in purchasing a possible vaccine to be produced, just like the USA it criticized earlier.
