5 Developments to Watch Next Week - Chinese Data

The U.S. economic calendar is moderate for a week to shorten the holiday as jobless claims get more attention than usual after the big loss in Friday's jobs report, and producer price inflation figures take the biggest bill. Comments from Federal Reserve officials will also be in focus after the disappointing August employment report. Stocks are likely to remain supported after employment data undermines the short-term contraction argument. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank is expected to discuss whether to reduce the stimulus at its meeting this week and release trade and inflation data, which is expected to highlight the slowdown in China's recovery in the world's number two economy. Here's what you need to know about the Chinese data to start the week, in the series where we examine 5 developments to follow next week.

5. Chinese data

On Monday, China will release its August trade data to follow on Wednesday, with both consumer and producer inflation figures for last month. The reports came after a recent weak economic data showed that the recovery in the world's second largest economy is being exhausted amid restraints to curb the spread of the Delta variant. Activity in China's service sector fell sharply in August, with a special survey on Friday and a similar survey of the manufacturing sector showing factory activity contracted for the first time in almost a year and a half last month. The slowdown has boosted expectations that Beijing will offer more support measures to stimulate growth.   Source: Investing.com You may also be interested 5 Developments to Watch Next Week – Fed Comments
