70 Million Dollars of Dried Figs Export in 1.5 Months 70 million dollars worth of dried fig export in 1.5 months. Dried figs in the first place Turkey's exports to the world in general, the start of the season has provided 70 million 220 thousand dollars in foreign exchange inflows of 1.5 months. According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent from the Aegean Exporters Union, in the fig export season that started on September 30, products have been exported to 81 countries so far. 70 million 220 thousand dollars of foreign currency input was obtained from the export of 18 thousand 157 tons in approximately 1.5 months. During this period, the most dried figs were sent to Germany for 12 million dollars. Germany was followed by France with $ 10.5 million and Italy with $ 7.4 million. Speaking to the AA correspondent, Birol Celep, President of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association, stated that fig exports continue smoothly. Underlining that dried figs provide considerable foreign currency inflow to Turkey, Celep said; “Our exports continue galloping. Our figs will continue to be consumed in a sustainable manner, increasingly every year. Due to the pandemic, there is a great demand for natural products. Figs also come to the fore as a natural product. If we are patient and make our marketing strategies in the sectoral sense by creating a value chain, the advantages of the sector may set a serious example.” Germencik Tariş Fig Union President Mustafa Bircan reminded that they exported 1000 tons of dried figs in a period of 1.5 months.   Noting that they export 80 percent of the products, Bircan said: “We send figs to the world 12 months of the year. Customers want figs every month. There is a demand for dried fruits due to healthy nutrition all over the world. The demand for figs has increased significantly. 400 of our workers worked even on Saturdays and Sundays. Due to the pandemic, there was an increase in our sales as well as new customers.
