It was determined that there was a data breach in GoDaddy, one of the world's largest internet domain service
companies based in the USA.
In the statement made by the Personal Data Protection Authority (
KVKK), regarding the data breach in Turkey, which affected more than 13 thousand users, including legal entities, the users, in addition to their personal data, WordPress administrator (admin) login information, secure file transfer protocol (sFTP) ) and database usernames and passwords were compromised.
In the data breach notification sent to
KVKK by GoDaddy.com, LLC (“GoDaddy”), which has the title of data controller, the following information was given in brief:
- An investigation was initiated as a result of the detection of suspicious activities in an environment where the data controller serves its users. It was understood that a data breach occurred when some personal data of users were accessed by unauthorized persons on or around September 6, 2021.
- The violation was detected by the data controller on 17 November 2021.
- 13 thousand 382 users, including legal entities, in Turkey were affected by the breach.
- The client number, email address, default WordPress admin (admin) login, secure file transfer protocol (sFTP) and database usernames and passwords assigned by the data controller were affected by the breach.
In the statement, it was stated that the relevant persons can get information about the data breach through the GoDaddy call center channel by calling “+1 480 505 8870” and that the investigation on the subject continues.
