A man from the English city of Bristol was dealing with a curious case
A man from the English city of Bristol was dealing with a curious case. Packages with Little Red Riding Hood costumes kept coming to his name in his name from the eBay portal. But he never ordered anything like that.
"Can you please help me solve a very bizarre problem?" He asked on the eBay customer line. "Every few weeks, a package with the Little Red Riding Hood costume comes to my house. Shipments are addressed to me and it looks like they are from people who bought them from you, but decided to return them, ”said the question. The information was provided by The
Guardian portal.
"The problem is that I have no idea why they're sending them to me, because I don't have an eBay account myself, and I definitely don't buy or sell costumes. At first I thought that someone was making fun of me, but I still get it, ”he adds.
Although the man thought it would be the end of it, he was wrong. It took him longer than he expected to solve this bizarre problem. Due to the protection of personal data, eBay has long been reluctant to comment on the situation in any way. After many months, however, it turned out that the man is not currently using an eBay account, but he briefly used this portal in 2006, where he registered through an email address that no longer exists.
Apparently someone broke into an unused account and started selling costumes under the same login name and password, which they later distributed through eBay. "Some customers who bought the costume and decided to return it then sent the goods back to the registered dealer, which you said, according to the information in the misused account," eBay finally told him.
Why someone misused the account and decided to do costume business through it is still a mystery. Creating your own account on eBay is not difficult at all. However, according to eBay, it could have been someone who had been banned from selling on eBay after a previous bad experience, so he decided to use an inactive Bristol man's account to bypass the system.
The Bristol man's account is no longer active, and
eBay has even launched an investigation to suspend any other suspicious accounts. Customers who decide to return the goods and the men sent them to Bristol will also be refunded.
