A Professional Competence Certificate will be enough to become a jeweler

It was stated that it would be sufficient for jewelers to graduate from the fields of jewelry activities of secondary or higher education institutions or from educational institutions abroad that are accepted as equivalent to them, and no other documents would be required.

While the requirement for a certificate of authorization was sought for the jewelry business, it was also possible for those with a professional qualification certificate to obtain this certificate. The new regulations of the Ministry of Commerce, which include amending the regulation on the jewelry trade, have been published in the Official Gazette.

In order to become a jeweler, the condition of "having a certificate of authorization issued in the name of the enterprise" is sought, while in order to obtain this certificate, at least one full-time employee of the jeweler or jewelry business must have a mastery certificate. With the change, jewelers who have a professional qualification certificate will now be able to be given a certificate of authority.

In the event that jewelers graduate from the fields related to jewelry activities of secondary or higher education institutions, or from educational institutions abroad whose equivalence is accepted, the requirement for a mastership certificate and a professional qualification certificate will no longer be sought. The areas exempt from this requirement will be determined by the ministry and announced on the website.

As of the date of entry into force of the regulation, the jewelry trade will be able to obtain a certificate of authorization for the jewelry trade without the requirement of a mastery certificate or a professional qualification certificate. The applications for the authorization certificate will be made until June 30th on behalf of businesses with income or corporate tax or professional chamber registration.

It was stated that if one of the documents showing that the said condition is fulfilled is not transferred to the Jewelry Trade Information System or submitted to the provincial directorate by December 31, the authorization certificates of these enterprises will be revoked.
