Speaking at a meeting held in Gazprom, Alexey Miller said, "This year we have started the design of the new pipeline, Power of Siberia-2. The purpose of this line is to unite the gas transfer systems in the east and west of our country. It will provide some of the conditions for gas supply to the regions in. "
Miller noted that with Power Of Siberia-2, they could supply up to 50 billion cubic meters of gas to China through Mongolia and supply gas to some parts of Russia.
Speaking about the Power Of Siberia pipeline, which is currently active, Miller added that this line is running smoothly, shipments to China continue on schedule and volumes are gradually increasing.
In December 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping commissioned the 50 billion euro Power of Siberia natural gas pipeline that will transport Russian gas to China. Gazprom plans to ship 5 billion cubic meters of gas through this line in 2020, 10 billion cubic meters in 2021, and 15 cubic meters in 2022. A total volume of 38 billion is expected to be reached in 2025.
On March 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an order to start feasibility and studies on the Power Of Siberia-2 natural gas pipeline.
Natural gas produced in the Yamal-Nenetsk and Krasnoyarsk regions in the north of Russia will be able to reach Western China via the Power Of Siberia-2 pipeline.
