Anchovy hunting restriction will end. Anchovy hunting will restart with additional measures as of February 7.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli announced that the partial anchovy hunting ban applied in some regions of the Black Sea will end as of February 7.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli made some statements to the press members after the "Agriculture-Forestry Sector Meeting" he attended in Samsun. Minister Pakdemirli announced that the restriction will end as of February 7, 2021, and hunting will resume with additional measures.
Minister Pakdemirli stated that a written statement would be made to the provincial/district agriculture and forestry directorates and continued as follows:
“The Ministry will have at least one officer to supervise the hunting ship. A maximum of two landing points will be determined in all provincial directorates with a coast to the Black Sea. The hunted anchovies will be landed from these points under the supervision of provincial/district directorates. There will be no sieve system and drum for sieving or it will be sealed on the ships.
The fishmeal and oil factories will be allowed to enter after the control of the personnel of the provincial/district directorate in the place where the enterprise is located. Both the public and fishermen should know that illegal anchovies under 9 cm will not be caught.”
Anchovy hunting, which was restricted as of January 8, was extended to January 28, on the grounds that sufficient conditions were not reached.
