Answer to the 196 Million Penalty from Google
The answer to the 196 million penalty came from Google. The Competition Board fined
Google for 196 million lira.
Recently, the Competition Board imposed an administrative fine of 196 million 708 thousand 54.78 lira on Google for "abusing its dominant position in the general search market".
The response from the US company was quick. Stating that it generates revenue not through search results, but through ad display, the company said, "Every ad on Google is clearly marked and distinguished from other search results."
Google announced that they will continue to work with the Competition Authority to avoid misunderstandings. The full statement of the American giant was as follows:
“Users expect Google to deliver high quality search results they can trust. In line with this expectation of our users, we provide them with the most relevant answers, and we generate revenue not with search results but through ad services. Each ad on Google is clearly marked and distinguished from other search results. By maintaining our constructive approach, we will continue to work with the Competition Authority to clear misunderstandings about how the
Google search service works.”
