Anyone Who Doesn't Accept Bitcoin In El Salvador May Be Punished!
Anyone who doesn’t accept Bitcoin in El Salvador may be punished! Bukele's advisor made a final statement.
The Central American country, El Salvador, broke new ground in world history and became the first country to declare
Bitcoin legal currency. Although this decision, which caused controversy all over the world, encountered some protests in the country, it has officially entered into force as of today. One of the biggest debates about this law, which was passed in the parliament on June 8, was the debate about whether every business will have to accept Bitcoin.
Bukele's Advisor Made the Clear Statement
Speaking to Diario El Mundo from the El Salvador media about the agenda, President Nayib Bukele's legal adviser, Javier Argueta, made a clear statement on the situation. Argueta said:
"Businesses that do not accept sales with Bitcoin and do not use a Chivo wallet will be subject to sanctions under the Consumer Protection Law."
President Nayib Bukele recently criticized the opposition parties on Twitter and noted that they would be on the losing side by opposing Bitcoin. Bukele said, "Whether they download the Chivo wallet or not, it's up to them to accept Bitcoin or not."
The first day of Bitcoin in El Salvador started problematic.
President Bukele, in his statement on Twitter, stated that they increased the capacity of the wallet servers, and therefore there were problems in the installation. Bukele said:
"We had to disconnect while increasing the capacity of their servers because unfortunately these operations are not done without disconnection. That's why some people are having trouble with the wallet setup… Those trying to transact right now will get an error code. This is a very simple and fixable problem, but it cannot be solved without disconnecting the wallet first."
