Apple Has Lost The Legal Battle, Crypto Gained
Apple has lost the legal battle, crypto gained. The legal battle between Apple and Epic Games over in-game and in-app purchases in the App Store is over.
Apple was taking up to 30 percent of all purchases made in the App Store, including in-app purchases. Payments had to be made through the store's own infrastructure.
Epic Games, on the other hand, placed a payment method in the mobile version of Fortnite that was disconnected from the App Store. In this way, the company would be able to receive 100 percent of the revenue from in-game sales. Apple, on the other hand, responded to this move by completely removing Fornite from the App Store.
The Litigation Lasting Months Has Been Concluded
Fortnite sued Apple over the response. In the months-long lawsuit, the judge ruled that
Apple had acted anticompetitively. As a result of the lawsuit, Apple was prevented from forcing them to use the App Store payment system, while developers were allowed to direct users to their own payment systems.
Cryptocurrency Payments Are Opened
Epic Games can now receive 100 percent of the revenues, while app developers can also receive payments in cryptocurrency. In other words, Starbucks, which is reported to be working on cryptocurrency payments, is experimenting with cryptocurrencies again and starting to accept Bitcoin in El Salvador. Such a situation is thought to significantly increase the use of cryptocurrencies.
However, Epic Games is in a similar lawsuit with Google. Since the Apple lawsuit sets a legal precedent, it is assumed that the company will also win the fight against Google.
