Apple Sells Less Than 500 Thousand Because of Coronavirus
Apple sold less than 500,000 units in China in February. We can say that the coronavirus epidemic hit Apple blow.
Towards the end of January, China introduced restrictions on travel just before the New Year festival, and a curfew was imposed on its citizens, and this decision continued partially in February.
According to the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology (CAICT) data, in total, smartphone brands dropped 6.34 million devices in February, dropping 54.7% below 14 million at the same time last year.
It has been the lowest level since 2012 when CAICt started publishing its data.
The Android brands, including Huawei Technologies (O: AAPL) and Xiaomi (HK: 1810), have experienced the biggest decline, their total deliveries fell from 12.72 million units to 5.85 million in February.
Apple deliveries fell from 1.27 million in 2019 to 494,000 now. It was just over 2 million in January.
