Approximately $30 Million In Cryptocurrencies Were Donated To Ukraine
As the Russia-Ukraine war continued, approximately $30 million in cryptocurrencies were donated to Ukraine as part of the aid.
Donations made to
Ukraine with cryptocurrencies are increasing every hour. According to the latest data, the amount of donations approached $ 30 million.
Blockchain analysis company Elliptic reported that the total of cryptocurrencies sent to Ukrainian government cryptocurrency wallets and non-governmental organizations is $18.6 million.
In addition, leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance has also set up a $10 million emergency fund to support war-affected Ukrainians. Thus, the total amount reached up to 28.6 million dollars.
Ukraine's official Twitter account shared Bitcoin and
Ethereum wallet addresses the previous day and called for BTC, ETH and USDT donations. Millions of dollars in cryptocurrencies were sent to these addresses in a short time.
Cryptocurrencies make it extremely easy to collect donations globally in emergencies. They have started to be used extensively in Ukraine, where cash access is problematic due to the inability to use ATMs. Recently, when two war correspondents could not make the transaction with cash or credit card, they bought the car they needed using Bitcoin.
While many people from all over the world supported Ukraine with cryptocurrency, scammers took advantage of the situation. Users are warned to be wary of fake donation wallets.
