AstraZeneca Reduced Vaccine Shipments to EU
AstraZeneca has reduced its vaccine shipments to the EU. The delivery of the coronavirus vaccine to the EU reduced by 60 percent in the first quarter of this year. Thus, the company will produce 31 million doses of coronavirus vaccine.
AstraZeneca has reduced its vaccine shipments to the EU. The company decided to cut 60 percent in the first quarter of this year in the delivery of its coronavirus vaccine to the European Union.
Speaking to the Reuters news agency, the senior official stated that AstraZeneca Plc will reduce the delivery of the coronavirus vaccine to European Union officials on Friday to 31 million doses, with a 60 percent cut in the first quarter of 2021 due to production problems.
This week, after Pfizer Inc and its partner BioNTech SE slowed the supply of the coronavirus vaccine to the EU, AstraZeneca's decision to cut halted Europe's attempt to vaccinate against the pandemic.
The senior official in the talks stated that
AstraZeneca is expected to deliver about 80 million doses of coronavirus vaccine to 27 EU countries at the end of March. Also said that the company plans to start the EU since February 15, in line with its plans.
AstraZeneca, on the other hand, did not provide details on the amount of the cut, but confirmed the allegations of a drop in deliveries.
“Due to reduced efficiency at a manufacturing facility in our European supply chain, the amount of doses produced will be lower than initially expected. We will continue to increase production volumes and supply tens of millions of doses of vaccine to the European Union in February and March.”
