Automobile Production In The UK Decreased 99.7 Percent!
According to the statement by the British Society of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (SMMT), only 197 cars were produced in April.
In a statement by the British Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (SMMT), it was announced that automobile production decreased by 99.7 percent in April compared to the same period of 2019, as the automotive companies in England closed their facilities due to the pandemic.
It was reported that only a total of 197 vehicles were produced in the UK in April, however the lowest vehicle production level has been seen since World War II.
As of April, total automobile production in the UK decreased by 27.6 percent to 319 thousand 449 on an annual basis.
In a statement made by SMMT, it was stated that British automotive companies produced 700 thousand protective equipment in April in order to use health personnel within the scope of combating coronavirus outbreak.
"The data is not surprising after the vehicle production has been completely shelved in April, but the data is important to show how big our industry is facing," said SMMT Senior Manager Mike Hawes.
