Slack and Amazon announced a big integration news yesterday afternoon. As part of the deal, Slack will use Amazon Chime for call feature and repeat its commitment to using AWS as the preferred cloud to run its infrastructure. At the same time, AWS has agreed to use Slack for internal communication.
This will be a big problem as the SaaS communication tool has increased ties with AWS. But the real problem may also be related to mitigating Microsoft and its rival Teams product by reaching an agreement with a cloud competitor.
Slack CEO Butterfield said the deal was synergistic, “The strategic partnership with AWS allows both companies to scale to meet their demands and offer our customers corporate-level offers. By integrating AWS services with Slack's channel-based messaging platform, we help teams easily and smoothly manage their cloud infrastructure projects and launch cloud-based services without leaving Slack. ”
The agreement also includes many features such as integrating AWS Key Management Service with Slack Enterprise Key Management (EKM), deepening it with AWS 'chatbot service, and direct integration with AWS AppFlow to provide secure data transfer between Slack and Amazon S3 storage.
AWS CEO Andy Jassy called this integration a 'pure integration' game.
Now AWS merges directly with Slack's services. One of the reasons corporate users are so fond of Slack is the ability to constantly change focus and do business in one place without having to move between interfaces.
