Beiersdorf boss Stefan De Loecker is stepping down
Beiersdorf boss Stefan De Loecker is stepping down after only two and a half years at the helm of the Hamburg consumer goods company. As Beiersdorf announced, the Supervisory Board and De Loecker have agreed to terminate his Management Board mandate on June 30. Vincent Warnery, currently responsible for the Pharmacy & Selective division with the brands Eucerin, Hansaplast and La Prairie, as well as the North American business, is to be succeeded at the top on May 1st. Warnery has been a member of the Beiersdorf Executive Board since February 2017. The Supervisory Board has extended his appointment by five years until January 31, 2027.
De Loecker has been leading Beiersdorf since January 1, 2019. With his departure, the chair's back seat on the Beiersdorf executive board is getting worse. Asim Naseer, who had been responsible for Cosmetics Brands on the Executive Board since 2019 and head of Marketing for
Nivea, only left Beiersdorf at the end of March when his contract expired. At the end of December, CFO Dessi Temperley, in office since July 1, 2018, announced that she would leave the company upon termination of her three-year contract. Her successor since January 1st is Astrid Hermann. The 47-year-old is also responsible for the Tesa adhesives division on the board. She was previously CFO for North America at Colgate-Palmolive.
At the beginning of the month, the consumer goods company reported solid figures for the first quarter and benefited above all from a significant increase in its adhesives business, Tesa. According to preliminary figures, sales rose organically by 6.3 percent to just under 1.95 billion euros in the first three months. While the skin care business of the Nivea
manufacturer grew by 2.7 percent, the adhesives business improved by 23.6 percent compared to the previous year thanks to robust demand from the electronics and automotive industries. This means that the development is above the expectations of the capital market, according to Beiersdorf. Beiersdorf maintained the forecast for the year.
