Best Selling Car Brand of May Has Been Announced

The best-selling car brand of May has been announced. Fiat reached the first place in the list in May.

According to the data announced by the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD), the automobile and light commercial vehicle market grew by 69.8 percent in May compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 54 thousand 734 units. While automobile sales were recorded as 43 thousand 138 in Turkey with an increase of 72.1 percent compared to the same period of 2020, light commercial vehicle sales were recorded at the level of 11 thousand 596 with an increase of 61.9%. According to the average sales of 10 years in May, sales of automobiles and light commercial vehicles decreased by 20.7 percent, automobile sales by 18.2 percent and light commercial vehicle sales by 28.6 percent.

Fiat Placed First

Last month, Fiat ranked first with 10 thousand 18 units in total sales, including passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Volkswagen (VW) followed Fiat with 6,260 sales and Renault with 5,330 sales. Ford took the fourth place with 4,463 sales, and Toyota took the fifth place with 3,466 sales. Fiat was the brand that sold the most automobiles in May, with 7,135. Fiat was followed by Renault with 5,033 and Volkswagen with 4,506. Toyota ranked fourth with 2,878 vehicles, and Peugeot ranked fifth with 2,561 automobile sales. In the list of 41 brands in automobile sales last month, sales were made from all brands except Smart and Maserati. In May, 4 Ferraris, 2 Lamborghinis, 2 Aston Martins, 1 Bentley and 1 Jaguar were sold.

Ford Takes the Lead in Light Commercial

In the light commercial vehicle segment, Ford ranked first in the list with 3,369 sales. Fiat followed Ford with 2,883 sales and Volkswagen with 1,754 sales. Toyota placed fourth with 588 sales, and Peugeot fifth with 514 sales.
