Biden Calls on Trump to Sign Incentive Package
Biden calls on Trump to sign the incentive package. Biden said there will be "devastating consequences" if the package is not approved.
US elected president Joe Biden has called on current
US President Donald Trump to sign the economic stimulus package for the coronavirus outbreak approved by Congress.
Pointing out that almost 10 million US citizens will be deprived of unemployment benefits, the government funding will end in a few days and the payment of the army's salaries will be at risk, Joe Biden stated that in less than a week, the evacuation order will expire and millions will face the risk of being removed from their homes.
Stating that if the support package is delayed, small businesses cannot survive and the public will not be able to receive direct cash assistance, Biden stated that although the coronavirus vaccine gives hope, funding will be needed for its distribution.
Underlining that the support package is of critical importance and must be signed and enacted,
Biden said:
“Trump should join Congress, working together and approving the support package, and make sure that millions of Americans are putting food on the table this holiday season and have rooftops over their heads.”
The US Congress approved a $ 1.4 trillion budget bill with an approximately $ 900 billion support package for the economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic on December 21.
However, President Trump evaluated the $ 600 cash aid in the support package that came to his desk after the approval of Congress as "disgrace" and demanded some changes, including increasing this aid to $ 2,000.
But despite Trump's request, Republican members of the US House of Representatives rejected the $ 2,000 offer.
