BIST 100 Index Closed The Day With An Increase On Monday

BIST 100 index closed the day with an increase on Monday. In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index gained 0.90 percent and finished the day with 1,454.25 points.

At the end of the day, the BIST 100 index increased by 12.92 points compared to the previous closing, and the total transaction volume was recorded as 15.3 billion liras. At the closing, the banking index gained 2.29 percent, while the holding index gained 0.94 percent. Among the sector indices, financial leasing and factoring gained the most with 3.36 percent, while the most decline was recorded on metal main industry with 2.12 percent. Analysts stated that the signs of recovery in the economies shaken by the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic and the increase in commodity prices kept inflationary concerns on the agenda, and that this situation brought along the expectations that the US Federal Reserve (FED) could start the interest rate hike earlier, increased the volatility in the stock and bond markets. Accordingly, it was noted that clues will be searched regarding the timing of tightening steps on the FED's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting held on April 27-28, announced on Wednesday. It has been reported that the data agenda will be followed tomorrow, including short-term external debt statistics in the country, housing starts and construction permits in the USA, growth in Japan and the Eurozone. In technical terms, analysts stated that the level of 1.470 is in the resistance position, and the levels of 1.440 and 1.390 are in the support position for the BIST 100 index.
