BIST 100 Started the Day With a Decline
BIST 100 started the day with a decline. In Borsa Istanbul, the BIST 100 index lost 1.39 percent and started the day with 1,477.42 points.
At the beginning of the day, the
BIST 100 index, which decreased by 20.90 points and 1.39 percent compared to its previous closing, dropped to 1.477.42 points.
While the banking index decreased by 1.62 at the opening, the holding index decreased by 1.56 percent. While all sector indices lost value at the opening, the biggest loss was on textile and leather with 2.49 percent.
The BIST 100 index, which dropped to 1,431.32 points yesterday, started to rise with purchases following the statements of CBRT President Naci Ağbal and closed the day at 1,498.32 points, with an increase of 2.13 percent compared to the previous close. Ağbal, in his statement yesterday, noted that the prudent monetary policy stance will be maintained until the inflation target of 5 percent is reached and additional tightening will be made if necessary.
Analysts stated that global stock markets moved with sellers due to the excessive volatility in the GameStop shares in the US stock market and the developments afterwards, the liquidity problem originating from China and the uncertainty regarding the stimulus package of the USA. The
U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has imposed restrictions on buying shares from Robinhood and Interactive Brokers, GameStop and similar companies from stock trading platforms.
The analysts stated that the foreign trade balance data will be monitored in the country today, and that the data agenda will be monitored abroad, especially personal incomes and expenditures in the USA and growth in Germany.
In technical terms, analysts stated that the levels of 1.470 and 1.440 are in support position for the
BIST 100 index.
