Bitcoin has already erased most of this week's strengthening
Bitcoin is weakening again and has already erased most of this week's strengthening. Japan's central bank governor (BoJ) Haruhiko Kuroda joined his critics in warning about bitcoin volatility and speculative trading.
The largest and best-known cryptocurrency has lost about 8.5 percent in the past 24 hours and traded at around $ 36,000 in the early afternoon, according to
CoinMarketCap.
The price of bitcoin this week ranges from 33 thousand USD to 39 thousand USD (29 513 euros). At the beginning of the week, it looked like it would be recovering from last week's fall, but currently it is basically stagnating compared to the levels from the beginning of the week.
Last Wednesday, bitcoin sold off, when its price temporarily fell by as much as 30 percent, to almost $ 30,000.
"Bitcoin volatility has declined this week," said Oanda analyst Edward Moya. However, he does not expect low volatility to last throughout the weekend.
Kuroda said that bitcoin is hardly used as a means of payment. He also distinguished the so-called stable coins, which are covered by assets, from bitcoin. For example, they must also meet legal standards. According to him, stable coins may become an appropriate method of payment in the future.
The risk of tightening regulation continues to have a negative impact on the cryptomen market. China and Iran have taken action against
cryptocurrency mining as it is too energy intensive. There is also speculation that supervision may be tightened by the US due to the enlargement of the market and its high volatility.
