Boeing won an order for 737 MAX aircraft for almost three billion euros
US aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced on Friday that it had agreed with the private investment company 777 Partners to purchase 24 737 MAX aircraft with an option to purchase another 60 pieces.
The value of the order is estimated at $ 2.9 billion (2.42 billion euros) and is good news for the airline, which is trying to recover from the crisis caused by the 20-month grounding of 737 MAX aircraft worldwide after two tragic accidents.
In addition to problems with the 737 MAX, Boeing was also hit by the collapse of tourism due to restrictions on halting the spread of the new coronavirus.
Miami-based 777 Partners, a stake in Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines, said it plans to lease the ordered aircraft to its subsidiaries.
Founder of
777 Partners Joshua Wander pointed out the excellent economic parameters of the new Boeings, which will allow airlines to reduce air fares and carbon footprint.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that Boeing was close to an agreement to sell dozens of 737 MAX models to Southwest Airlines.
In December, the US group agreed with Alaska Airlines to buy 23 737 MAX aircraft, and European low-cost airline
Ryanair bought 75 aircraft from it.
