Boris Johnson's Call to Work from Home Responded
When the number of
coronavirus (Covid-19) cases increased again,
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's call to work from home was responded. Financial institutions announced that they will switch to remote working period again.
Boris Johnson made a statement in the House of Commons in the lower house of England, warning that the number of daily diagnoses had increased 4 times compared to the previous month and that hundreds of citizens could die every day unless action is taken rapidly.
Johnson stated that remote work should be encouraged by demanding stay at home as much as possible after publicizing a series of new decisions regarding business hours and the requirement to use a mask.
The first response to the Prime Minister's call came from financial institutions. Banks and organizations operating in the field of insurance announced that they would return to the remote working system.
Barclays, Societe Generale, Lloyd's and Goldman Sachs were among the organizations that would prefer the remote working system.
In a statement made by
Barclays, the world's leading financial group, it was stated that nearly a thousand employees who recently started working from the office will work from home again.
Following the announcement of Barclays, French bank Societe Generale, Insurance exchange Lloyd's and Goldman Sachs stated that they will act "in line with the decisions of the UK government".
In the statement made by Goldman Sachs, it was stated that the decision will not be valid only for employees who are required to be in the office.
