Brent Oil Reached Above $84 a Barrel

Brent oil reached above $84 a barrel on January 13. Today, Brent oil is priced at $84.44 a barrel in global markets.

Brent oil, which went up to $ 85.21 yesterday, closed the day at $ 84.67. Today, at 09:40, the barrel of Brent oil, which decreased by 0.27 percent compared to the closing, is trading at $ 84.44. At the same time, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil was traded at $82.41 a barrel. The rise in gasoline stocks of the USA, the world's largest oil consumer, played a role in the decline in oil prices. The uncertainty created by the increasing Covid-19 cases around the world on global oil demand in the short term continues to have an impact on prices. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), said at a press conference with global health experts at the organization's headquarters in Geneva yesterday, that 15 million new cases were reported to WHO last week, which is the highest weekly number of global Covid-19 cases. Ghebreyesus also underlined that although the rapidly spreading Omicron variant of Covid-19 causes less severe diseases than the Delta variant, it still poses a danger. In technical terms, it was stated that the range of $84.81 to $85.35 can be viewed as resistance, and the range of $84.27 to 83.73 as support in Brent oil.
