Brexit Process Completed By the End of the Year
By the end of the year, the
Brexit process was completed. Yesterday, Britain officially left the EU common market.
Entering the European Union in 1973, the UK left the EU common market as of December 31, 2020. On the other hand, the country will continue to be subject to Brussels rules.
In the long-running Brexit negotiations, an agreement was finally reached. When the transition process that started after Brexit came to an end, the 50-year UK-EU partnership ended. As of December 31 2020, the country's exit from the EU common market has become official. Britain's seperation from the European Union was announced at 11 pm with the ringing of the Big Ben bell.
New regulations have entered into force in areas such as trade, travel, immigration, law and security between the UK and the EU. After this date, both parties will carry out their commercial relations within the framework of the
free trade agreement signed on December 30, but the UK will have left the jurisdiction of the EU courts.
"This Is A Great Moment For The Country ..."
UK citizens will no longer be able to obtain residence and work permits in European Union countries. Citizens of European Union (EU) countries will also be able to get a residence permit in the UK only if they meet the necessary immigration requirements.
It is known that there is no clarity on what will happen to the banking and service sectors that make up an important part of the UK economy.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson used the following statements about leaving the European Union in his new year message:
"This is a great moment for the country. We have taken our freedom and it is up to us to make the most of it as possible."
