British And European Union Representatives Plan To Continue Negotiations
Should they fail to conclude an overall trade agreement, the British and European Union representatives plan to continue negotiations and work on "mini-agreements" for each sector.
The British daily The Times reported about it over the weekend.
According to The Times, the European Union's chief negotiator for Brexit, Michel Barnier, and his British counterpart David Frost have agreed that even if they fail to reach a key agreement on trade relations after Brexit by 15 October, they will not cut off contacts.
In such a case, they will seek to conclude smaller sub-agreements during November, for example in the field of air and road transport, which should avoid looming problems after the end of the transitional period on 31 December. However, The Times did not provide the sources of this information.
The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has set a date for the European Union summit as the last date for an agreement. It will take place on October 15 and 16.
