Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Party's leadership candidate in
the UK, stated that if the government does not provide more cash assistance to households, the energy crisis in the country will drag millions of people into poverty.
Former Finance Minister Sunak had put forward his candidacy to become the new leader of the party and Prime Minister after the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Rishi Sunak will fight for leadership in next month's elections in an environment of cost of living, recession and inflation triggered by the increase in energy prices.
"The first rule is to recognize that we are in a crisis. We are facing an energy crisis. I will support citizens who are struggling to pay their bills this winter. If we don't do this, millions of people, including many pensioners, will be pushed into poverty."
