Bundesbank Chairman Jens Weidmann will step down. The hawk of European monetary policy will leave his job at the end of the year.
The President of the German Central Bank (Bundesbank) Jens Weidmann announced that he will leave his post as of December 31, citing personal reasons. Weidmann submitted his resignation to the German President, according to a statement released by the Bundesbank on Wednesday. Weidmann wrote to Bundesbank employees, said, "After more than a decade, I have come to the conclusion that it is the right time to turn a new leaf - for the Bundesbank and for me personally."
