Buyers of iPhone 13 have to be prepared for longer waiting times

Buyers of the new iPhone 13 have to be prepared for longer waiting times. The Japanese newspaper "Nikkei" reported that this was due to the worsening corona crisis in Vietnam, where components for smartphone cameras were being manufactured, citing people familiar with the matter. The bottlenecks should therefore last until mid-October. Many retailers like Verizon and Best Buy have already pointed out delays. Analysts are now warning of the longest delivery times in years for the new model. For industry experts, the waiting times for the new Apple products are also an indicator of their success with end customers. There is a "robust demand" for the devices, said J.P. Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee. However, the supply chains are disrupted worldwide. This would mean that customers would have to wait a little longer for their orders than usual. The Apple supplier Unimicron only announced on Sunday that the company had stopped parts of its production in China. As a reason, it cited government restrictions on energy supplies. In three of its operations in China, the company wants to let the production lines stand still until Thursday. The impact is limited as production is ramped up in other factories. The compulsory breaks at supplier companies hit the auto and electronics companies at an inopportune time. There has been a massive shortage of materials worldwide for months, with electronic components being particularly affected. The Concraft Holding group, which manufactures parts for iPhone headphones, among other things, will not produce anything until Thursday and will use parts from its warehouse to meet demand. The central government in Beijing wants to reduce electricity consumption in the People's Republic by three percent this year in order to achieve its climate targets. The provincial governments had recently tightened the requirements for electricity consumption again. In some provinces, residents are not allowed to use kettles or microwaves, and shopping centers have to close earlier.
