Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) presented the February price developments assessment. In the report in question, it was stated that annual inflation increased across subgroups, and that the rising trend in producer prices continued with the rise in commodity prices.
In the report, it was stated that consumer prices increased by 0.91 percent in February, while annual inflation increased by 0.64 points to 15.61 percent. Moreover, in the report, it was stated that the strong upward trend in producer prices continued due to the rise in international commodity prices and the increasing supply restrictions in some sectors.
Food Inflation Increases on the Lead of Processed Food Prices
In the report, it was noted that annual inflation increased across subgroups, with the most significant contribution to this increase coming from core goods and food groups. The following expressions were used in the report:
"During this period, prices in durable goods and other core goods followed a moderate course with the partial easing of the effects of the cumulative exchange rate, while the rise in annual clothing inflation continued. Food inflation increased, led by processed food prices. Despite the rise in international oil prices, despite the rise in international oil prices, the group's annual inflation increased due to the low base, although the energy prices showed a limited monthly increase as a result of the exchange rate developments and the mobile scale application.
