China Vaccinated 1 Million People in 5 Months
China vaccinated 1 million people in 5 months. China announced that it has administered more than 1 million coronavirus vaccines since July and plans to distribute more vaccines to protect workers in industries with the highest risk of infection, while working to pioneer coronavirus vaccination worldwide.
Developed by Sinovac Biotech Ltd. and the state-owned China National Biotec Group Co., known as CNBG, to combat coronavirus, vaccines began to be distributed in the country by obtaining emergency use permission in July.
China is preparing a further distribution plan for vulnerable groups, including people with preexisting medical problems, to take priority over vaccination, as well as those working in hospitals, customs, public transport and cold chain logistics. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, deputy minister of the Chinese National Health Commission,
Zeng Yixin, said the next phase will involve the general public.
While China aims to vaccinate 50 million people, the local spread of the virus has nearly halted and life has largely returned to normal for the majority of the population, infection has been reported in recent weeks in Heilongjiang, west of the country, Xinjiang, and Sichuan province.
Chinese
vaccine developers, have also signed supply agreements with countries such as Indonesia, Singapore, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. In the first days of December, CNBG noted that the effectiveness of the vaccine was 86 percent in a local clinical study with more than 30,000 people.
