Hu Xijin, Editor-in-Chief of Global Times, another official publication in China, said in his message on his Twitter account, “ This is an open robbery. The world is watching and God is watching that how President Trump is turning the once great America into a rogue country." Global Times also used the headline "Banning TikTok shows Washington's cowardice."
TikTok, which has 80 million monthly active users in the USA, has been the target of both Congress and administration for a while. TikTok, accused of transferring US data to the Chinese state, denied the allegations.
The newspaper suggested that the Chinese companies' prominence in the technology race brought a sense of crisis to the US elite and therefore they took action against companies such as Huawei and TikTok. The US administration sees TikTok as a spyware and argues that it transmits a lot of personal data, including information on citizens' mobile phones, directly to the Chinese government.
