CHINESE MEDIA REACTED HARSHLY TO THE US THREAT TO TIKTOK

The Chinese state media reacted harshly to the threat that the US directed to TikTok, the video performance application, to "sell US operations, or we will ban them." China Daily, one of the official media outlets of China, used the phrase "rogue state", claiming that the US is trying to take over Tiktok with the "snatch and run" tactic. Describing TikTok's potential sales to Microsoft as "theft", the newspaper claimed that China could respond to this step. US technology giant Microsoft has announced that it can purchase TikTok's operations in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand from the owner of the application China-based ByteDance. US President Donald Trump also gave 45 days for sales.
Hu Xijin, Editor-in-Chief of Global Times, another official publication in China, said in his message on his Twitter account, “ This is an open robbery. The world is watching and God is watching that how President Trump is turning the once great America into a rogue country." Global Times also used the headline "Banning TikTok shows Washington's cowardice."
TikTok, which has 80 million monthly active users in the USA, has been the target of both Congress and administration for a while. TikTok, accused of transferring US data to the Chinese state, denied the allegations. The newspaper suggested that the Chinese companies' prominence in the technology race brought a sense of crisis to the US elite and therefore they took action against companies such as Huawei and TikTok. The US administration sees TikTok as a spyware and argues that it transmits a lot of personal data, including information on citizens' mobile phones, directly to the Chinese government.
