Consumer prices in the euro zone did not change last month
Consumer prices in the euro area continued to rise at a steady pace in February.
According to updated data from the European statistical office
Eurostat, prices of goods and services in the Euroregion increased by 0.9 percent year on year in February, the same as in January. This result is consistent with the preliminary estimate.
A year ago, in February 2020, the inflation rate in the region that adopted the euro was 1.2 percent.
Eurostat also said that across the
European Union (EU), annual inflation rose to 1.3 percent in February 2021 from 1.2 percent in January, but was below 1.6 percent a year earlier, in February 2020.
Among the EU Member States, Greece (-1.9%), Slovenia (-1.1%) and Cyprus (-0.9%) recorded the lowest year-on-year inflation rates in February 2021.
On the contrary, the highest inflation was reported by Poland (3.6%), Hungary (3.3%) and Romania (2.5%).
Compared with January, annual inflation fell in ten Member States, remained stable in three and rose in 14.
