Crypto Miners Were Caught Mining In Electronics Stores!
Crypto miners were caught mining in electronics stores! Miner couple was arrested by the police in Spain.
In Tarragona, Spain, a couple was arrested by police who went to electronics stores and secretly installed mining software on the gaming laptops. It is stated that the 33-year-old suspects, whose names have not been revealed, installed NiceHash mining software and Anydesk remote access program on 16 computers in El Corte Inglés and
MediaMarkt stores.
As it is known, mining software creates a serious load on the entire system and especially on the graphics card to mine cryptocurrencies. MediaMarkt employees noticed that the gaming laptops on display in the store, which were only in standby mode, were operating at full capacity and were overheating.
Security camera footage revealed how
crypto miners installed the mining software on computers. The woman goes to the store employee and asks for help opening the laptop she bought. Another suspect, who took advantage of the distraction of the store staff, installs mining and remote access software on the laptop via a USB drive.
Mediamarkt surveillance footage proved that the couple had visited the store at least three times. Searches of the couple's home revealed several hard drives, a partially assembled computer, as well as a smartphone that they allegedly controlled the computers they had hacked. Both are accused of hacking, fraud and causing harm.
