Cryptocurrency Exchange BitMart Has Been Hacked
Cryptocurrency exchange BitMart has been hacked. Cryptocurrency worth $150 million was stolen from the exchange.
BitMart, one of the popular cryptocurrency exchanges, reported that it was
hacked and $150 million worth of cryptocurrencies were stolen.
Founder and CEO of the BitMart crypto exchange, Sheldon Xia, said in a statement on his Twitter account, "We have determined that our ETH and BSC hot wallets have been subjected to a large-scale attack. Hackers managed to withdraw approximately 150 million dollars of cryptocurrencies from the wallets."
Xia also said that they have conducted a comprehensive security review of the platform and all withdrawals are suspended until further notice.
Stolen cryptocurrencies include numerous tokens including Shiba Inu (SHIB) and stablecoins such as USDC.
It was detected that the hacker sent the stolen crypto coins to Tornado Cash, a service that is used to hide transactions on Ethereum.
BitMart, which started its operations in March 2018, is a cryptocurrency exchange registered in the Cayman Islands. The platform also has four offices in New York, China, Hong Kong and Seoul. The data shows that transactions worth of $ 1.3 billion were carried out on BitMart in the last 24 hours.
