”Cryptocurrency " penalty from famous actor
Famous actor Steven Seagal may have played him in the movie” above the law." But apparently not so much in real life.
The 67-year-old
Hollywood star added his name to the list of celebrities who have been fined from the
U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC) for not publicly revealing that he took money by promoting a digital coin.
Seagal agreed in exchange for $ 250k in cash and $ 750k in cryptocurrencies to promote the company's cryptocurrency supply, named Bitcoiin2Gen, the SEC said Thursday.
Addressing fans via social media, Seagal urged them not to miss out on the IPO in question. He was also mentioned at a press conference as a brand representative of Bitcoiin2Gen.
Seagal, who agreed to the settlement without denying the allegations, will pay a $ 157 thousand penalty. He will also waive the same amount of money.
