Anti-vaccine truckers' actions continue in Canada. Activists had recently closed the Canada-US border with their trucks, causing a state of emergency to be declared. The use of cryptocurrencies was on the agenda for those who wanted to donate to these protests. Following the launch of a campaign to support truckers with cryptocurrencies, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (
RCMP) took action.
The RCMP has issued an order forcing the organizations in the country regulated by the Canadian Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Center to stop interacting with 34 crypto wallets which were blacklisted.
The RCMP noted the following on the subject:
“The Ontario State Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are currently investigating cryptocurrency donations collected in connection with illegal acts falling under the
Emergency Measures Act. Pursuant to the Emergency Economic Measures Order under subsection 19(1) of the Emergency Actions Act, the following cryptocurrency unit address(es) has a duty to stop facilitating any action."
It was stated that crypto transactions worth up to $ 1.1 million were made in the blacklisted cryptocurrency wallets.
