Data Breach from Australian Crypto Exchange The Data Breach from Australian crypto currency exchange 'BTC Markets' has revealed the information of hundreds of thousands of users. A new one has been added to the data breaches in the crypto currency exchange. The derivative trading platform BitMEX, owned by HDR Global Trading Limited, which has offices around the world last year; In June of this year, the hardware wallet provider Ledger leaked the e-mail addresses of its users. In the statement made by BTC Markets, it was stated that the information of the users was shared by mistake and the e-mail addresses of the users were added by mistake while sending the e-mail.

"Our external communication process has no interaction with our internal system and no password data is disclosed."

CEO Caroline Bowler stated that 270,000 users were victims due to the mistake, but the trading platform was not affected, so users' passwords were kept safe. The exchange reported that the error will be forwarded to the Australian Information Commissioner's Office to ensure detailed investigation of the data breach and increase security measures. BTC Markets also warned its users to enable two-factor authentication (2FA).   What is 2FA? Two-factor authentication means that the user provides two or more proof of authentication. One-time codes, which are different each time, prevent the account from being hijacked. For example, if you are logging in via your e-mail and password, a single-use code will be sent to your mobile phone defined as your accounts two-factor authentication and you can only access your account through this code.
