Decision by the New York Environmental Committee! Deny BTC Mining Ban
In the past months, lawmakers in the New York House have approved a bill that will reduce Bitcoin mining, also known as the crypto mining moratorium law, with a majority vote. This law, approved, will prevent the expansion of certain carbon-based crypto mining operations.
The New York environmental committee also expressed its opposition to the decision banning Bitcoin (BTC) mining. The committee stated that they would not consider the decision.
New York Environmental Committee Opposes Bitcoin Mining Ban
A bill that would impose a two-year moratorium on certain types of proof-of-work (PoW) crypto mining businesses in New York state has faced major setbacks. The bill is currently under consideration by the Senate Environmental Protection Committee. Still, according to a schedule aired early Friday morning, the committee chose not to consider the bill at the final meeting of the current legislature. Subsequently, the Senate Environmental Protection Committee evaluated the issue as follows:
“Establishing a moratorium on cryptocurrency mining operations that use proof-of-work authentication methods to verify blockchain transactions; ensures that such operations are subject to a full overall environmental impact statement review.”
