Delivery times for new cars have been extended in Germany
Delivery times for new cars have been extended in Germany. The ongoing crisis with processors makes the new vehicle a scarce commodity on the German market.
According to the CAR report on the situation in August, the result is rising prices or falling discounts.
The head of the institute, Ferdinand Dudenhöffer, pointed out that in the first half of the year, sellers and importers were able to compensate for this development with stocks.
"Discounts in the automotive market continue to fall, the number of offers is shrinking and delivery times are being extended," DPA quotes current major trends from the institute's report.
Manufacturers and dealers are also reluctant to register vehicles for themselves, which has usually brought higher discounts to the market.
They accounted for only 24.1 percent of records in August, which is 1.9 percent less than in July. This caused an increase in the average price of a new vehicle by 0.5 percent.
According to the study, in the case of such short-term dealer records, the customer can get a discount of 27.3 percent on the list price, with only 18.8 percent when configuring the vehicle on Internet portals.
The so-called subscription offers, in which the customer also pays for maintenance and insurance, become insufficient.
Offers for this form of leasing for petrol and
electric vehicles have become rare, while offers for diesel and hybrid cars have increased slightly.
Interested parties had to wait an average of 12.5 weeks for their prepaid vehicle in August, which is about two weeks longer than in March.
