Deputy Governor Of The CBRT Has Been Dismissed
Deputy Governor of the CBRT has been dismissed. Deputy Governor Oğuzhan Özbaş was dismissed.
Deputy Governor of the
Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Oğuzhan Özbaş was dismissed and Prof Dr Semih Tümen was appointed in his place.
The appointment decision, signed by
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was published in the Official Gazette.
According to the decision taken, Özbaş was dismissed under the additional article 35 of the Statutory Decree numbered 375 and article 2 of the Presidential Decree numbered 3 and Prof Dr Semih Tümen was appointed in his place.
Who is Semih Tümen?
Semih Tümen was born in 1977 in Elazığ and graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU) Department of Economics in 2000. Afterwards, Tümen completed the London School of Economics Econometrics and Mathematical Economy in 2006, a master's degree in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2007, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2012.
Tümen started working as an assistant specialist at the CBRT in 2002, and served in various units until 2011. He started working as an economist at the Research and Monetary Policy General Directorate in 2011, and served as Assistant General Manager of Research and Monetary Policy in 2015-2016, and General Manager for Structural Economic Research in 2016-2018.
After 2018, Prof Dr Tümen worked as the Head of the Department of Economics at TED University and as a Consultant at the Presidency Human Resources Office. In addition, Tümen, who has been a Scientific Committee Member of the Institute of Labor Economics and Economic Research Forum since 2015, has also served as a referee and editor in many international academic journals.
Tümen is married and has 1 child.
