Deutsche Börse is still on the lookout for takeover opportunities
Deutsche Börse is still on the lookout for takeover opportunities in the area of sustainable investments and digital assets. There are great growth opportunities there, said Deutsche Börse board member Thomas Book the "Handelsblatt" according to the preliminary report. "In both areas we not only want to expand our range organically, but are also looking for purchase opportunities."
As a result, Deutsche Börse will benefit even more from the growing demand from institutional investors for crypto assets in the future, said Book. In the middle of the year, Deutsche Börse acquired a majority stake in Swiss Crypto Finance AG, which offers trading, administration and custody of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
In the newspaper interview, Book called for an action plan to strengthen the capital market in Germany and Europe. According to the preliminary report, he currently sees the risk that, after
Biontech, other German growth companies will strive to go public in the USA. In the late financing rounds of startups in Germany, 80 percent of the capital comes from foreign investors. This increases the likelihood that these companies will go public abroad and invest more there, said Book.
He also pointed out that there are many listed exchange jackets, especially in the
USA - called spacs in exchange jargon. They looked for startups around the world, bought them and then went public in the US: "We have to prevent many promising European companies from going public in the US in this way," warned Book.
SPAC stands for "Special Purpose Acquisition Company". These are empty shell companies with no operational activity that collect capital from investors through an IPO.
