Deutsche Post has a record year in the corona crisis
Deutsche Post is expecting record results this year. One reason for this is a new record in the number of parcels transported, said post manager Frank Appel of the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung". Deutsche Post expects 1.8 billion parcels to be transported in Germany in 2020. That is an increase of 13 percent compared to the previous year. The location also justifies a "record high on the stock exchange".
According to Appels, Deutsche Post recruited 10,000 additional employees in Germany for the Christmas business, which was particularly intense this time due to the
corona pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, many parcel deliverers were still "afraid of the virus" because of the many contacts, he admitted in the "FAS". However, this changed when the Post introduced extensive protective measures, such as contactless delivery.
Thanks to the vaccinations that are now starting, the post manager is also "quite optimistic" about the new year. "As a chemist and neurobiologist, I am convinced that we will get the virus under control in the next year, either through vaccination or through drugs that fight the symptoms of the disease," said Appel.
