33 soldiers were martyred as a result of the air raid in Idlib, Syria. After yesterday's news, the dollar has reached its highest level since September 2018 with 6.2512 this morning. The euro climbed to 6.87 this morning and a basket rate to 6.55. Besides geopolitical tensions, low-risk appetite abroad due to coronavirus increases the pressure on TL.
The negative outlook continued in foreign markets due to the virus. Yesterday, 4% of losses were seen in the USA yesterday, and the Asian markets were unfavorable today.
EXCHANGE OPENED WITH 10% FALL
The BIST 100 Index also fell 10 percent to 99.331.99 points at the opening today, and the index later compensated some of its losses.
Ata Investment Director Cem Tözge stated that it will be followed whether or not an action will come from the Central Bank today. Tözge said: "Today, we can act with the strong after-sales news flow. We will follow 6.25 on the exchange side. The critical issue today is whether our Central Bank can take action as it does on this type of day, so can it play with liquidity conditions and try to reduce the pressure on TL.''
The growth figure to be announced inside today is expected to have a limited impact on the exchange rate movement.
The currency that fell the most against the dollar was the rand with 1.4% this morning, while TL was the fourth currency that fell the most.
